Starting 26th March 2017 — Part of Disneyland Paris 25th Anniversary
Enjoy Disney Dreams! while it lasts. In a daring move, the immensely popular, award-winning Disneyland Paris nighttime spectacular is not just being plussed or upgraded for the 25th Anniversary but completely replaced with a brand new show.
Disney Illuminations will drop the delightful Peter Pan and Wendy storyline of a shadow getting lost for a new concept hosted by Mickey Mouse. Inevitably, the mouse that started it all will also end up stumbling through a number of classic Disney scenes and songs — familiar choices like Frozen and The Little Mermaid but also Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Wars and the new live-action Beauty and the Beast, giving the show a more contemporary, up-to-the-minute feel.
With Mickey Mouse as its lead, it’s clear Disney Illuminations will share some similarities with Shanghai Disneyland’s Ignite the Dream spectacular, which only debuted in 2016, but much of this show is still said to be unique to Paris.
Huge water fountains, projection mapping trickery, dazzling fireworks and colourful lasers are all sure to be part of the spectacle. Whether it’ll tug on our heartstrings as much as 2012’s now classic production remains to be seen, but a totally new nighttime show is certainly something to put Disneyland Park on the map for 2017.
